A woman with dental pain at a dentist office.

The joint of your jaw is a complex combination of bones, muscles, nerves, ligaments and tendons that are vital for chewing, speaking and facial expressions. When you suffer pain in the jaw, it can often be a problem with this joint, known as your temporomandibular joint (TMJ). These problems are collectively known as temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD). As part of our general dentistry options, Dr. Devan Dalla and the team at DNTL Hub offer TMJ/TMD treatment at our state-of-the-art dental clinic in Galt near Lodi, CA.

Symptoms of TMJ or TMD can become progressively worse over time, especially without treatment. How do you know if you are having problems with your TMJ? Here are some common signs of a TMD:

  • Popping or locking in the jaw when opening or closing your mouth
  • Jaw or facial pain
  • Headaches or migraines
  • Earaches or vertigo
  • Pain when chewing

Anything that injures or places strain on the jaw joint can cause a TMD. Bruxism, or teeth grinding, is a common problem we see at our clinic, causing inflammation and soreness in the jaw. Other issues can also contribute to a TMJ disorder, such as malocclusions, missing teeth, bite misalignment or other dental issues. Some patients may also have a genetic or anatomical problem with their jaw that causes jaw stress and pain. Dr. Dalla can diagnose the cause of your TMJ/TMD and recommend a solution.

Jaw Pain, Facial Pain Relief!

Dr. Dalla and the team at DNTL Hub will begin with a comprehensive oral examination, using the latest technology in dental imaging to determine the cause of your jaw pain. If dental problems, such as missing teeth or a malocclusion, is to blame, we can correct those issues with restorative dentistry options. Teeth grinding or a misaligned jaw can often be solved by wearing a dental mouthguard at night while you sleep.

Other, rarer and more serious oral problems may require orthodontic work or oral surgery. Dr. Dalla will explain his findings and any recommended treatment plans. Contact DNTL Hub today if you have jaw pain or experience clicking when you chew or speak. You could have a TMJ disorder that can be solved with a dental repair.

We accept most forms of dental insurance and offer in-house financing to help you fit unexpected oral care expenses into your budget. Ask about them when you call DNTL Hub today.
