Whether you have a sensitive gag reflex, past dental trauma, or just feel nervous in the chair, our sedation dentistry options can make your experience calm, relaxed, and stress-free. Dr. Devan Dalla and our experienced team offer several levels of sedation to accommodate everything from routine cleanings to more complex treatments. Your comfort matters, and we’ll work with you to find the approach that’s right for you.
Sedation Options Available
We offer three forms of sedation dentistry, each designed to provide comfort at varying levels of intensity based on your needs and preferences.
IV Sedation
This is the deepest level of sedation we offer. Medication is delivered intravenously to place you into a light sleep throughout your procedure. You’ll be unaware of the treatment and will need a trusted adult to accompany you home. Ideal for lengthy or complex procedures.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Administered as a prescription pill, this option provides a deep sense of relaxation while you remain awake and responsive. You may feel drowsy or dreamlike but will be able to answer questions. As with IV sedation, a driver is required.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
This is the mildest and most commonly used form of sedation. Delivered through a small mask placed over your nose, nitrous oxide creates a calm, relaxed state without putting you to sleep. The effects wear off quickly, and you can typically resume normal activity right after your visit.
Who Can Benefit from Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation dentistry is a great option for patients who:
- Experience dental anxiety or fear
- Have a sensitive gag reflex
- Require multiple or complex treatments in one visit
- Struggle with sitting still for long periods
- Have a low pain threshold
If you’ve ever delayed care due to fear or discomfort, sedation dentistry can make the difference in maintaining your oral health.
